Weeds.

No I'm not talking Puff the Magic Dragon. I'm talking literally about weeds, those unruly things that grow out of the ground and kill your flowers or vegetables.
Usually that is how I view weeds, but one morning I was out taking photographs when I stumbled upon some beautiful weeds.  The lighting and frost could have helped... a little.

All it takes is just getting a little closer and you see things you've never seen before.

Now isn't that extraordinary?

A photo (or video) Is worth a Thousand Words

Here's something that is truly remarkable.  This video astounds me every time I watch it!  My professor in my photography class, shared this video with us.

Everyone can take a photo nowadays its as easy as 1..2..3, flip out the cell and you are good to go.  But here is this man taking pictures of many different kinds of people in the streets, he photographs their personality and caricature (which many of us could probably do).  Yet, he goes beyond sharing these stories from Paris to the Middle East.  He makes an incredible statement- large posters in slums, on trains and homes, on walls separating two groups of people.  Watching this you know that if you were there in person, you would not be able to merely glance and pass by; you would have to stop and visually drink it all in.  As in the old adage:  "A photo is worth a 1,000 words." .... I think I'll just leave the video to do the talking.

White Wedding

This past fall break, I did something rather out of the everyday, I got married.  The day was absolutely perfect and one I shall never forget.  In a whole, weddings are extraordinary- which is why this has made it onto the blog today!
Weddings are stressful.  Plain and simple.  They require much time, effort, and money.  Throughout the whole process of planning, sometimes I wondered to myself why we even spend so much time on so many small minute details?  For only a two or three hour reception?  It's pretty ridiculous!  But that's just it, this is not an ordinary day.  The day you get married is a day where you make one of the biggest decisions you will ever make, so why not celebrate that amazing decision- because it is so worth it!  At the end of the day everything comes together.  As I look back on that day, all that really mattered to me was simply celebrating this beautiful occasion with the people I care most about.  You realize all the details for your wedding help make the occasion beautiful, but they're not the things that define it...its the love in people that does.
